On behalf of the staff, governors, and children of Sauncey Wood Primary School, we would like to welcome you to our friendly, inclusive, and successful school. We strive to provide a secure, happy and stimulating environment in which our children are able to fulfil their potential.

 

Sauncey Wood is a one form entry primary school in the village of Batford on the outskirts of Harpenden. We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by green spaces and have large playgrounds and fields for our children to play.

 

As a small school, we are able to ensure that every child is well known and valued by all members of staff. We have members of our Senior Leadership Team on the playgrounds every morning and at the end of the day giving opportunities to get to know all of our families well and support them in the best way we can. We are a strongly community-focused school, placing a high priority on nurturing positive links with our parents and carers.

 

From the very first day our children start with us, we work hard and challenge them to be the best that they can possibly be. We put a huge emphasis on positive learning behaviours, having a confident and resilient mind-set and being a good friend to others.

 

We firmly believe that learning should be fun and a rewarding experience for everyone. Our commitment to great teaching and learning aims to give your child the vocabulary, knowledge and skills they need to be successful at each stage in their education and the confidence that comes from working hard and achieving things we once thought were challenging.

 

We feel very strongly that children need to develop their leadership skills whilst they learn with us, we provide many opportunities for children to take a leadership role, from our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors to Prefects, School Council representatives and House Captains.
